Most of us that have businesses online, especially affiliate type businesses and store fronts, know that it's a good idea to take interest in niches that are popular. However, if the niche is over populated meaning over saturated, you will have a harder time with sales because you will be in the water with 10 million other sharks.

On the other hand, if you pick a niche that is very unpopular, you also won't make very many sales because frankly no one wants to be a kublarminkulax, I'm sorry, they just don't! For those of you still new to niche's or better yet for those of you who have no idea what a niche is or what niche marketing is, this is going to be a terrific read for you because I'm going to explain it!

Now by definition the phrase niche refers to "a special area of demand for a product or service". 'Marketing' is defined as: "the opportunity to buy or sell". So, when you put these two phrases together you come up with niche marketing which means buying or selling a product or service in a special area of demand. Like I said the kublarminkulax is an example of something that's not in popular demand. However, things like electronics, health products, food, entertainment, recreation, and communication products are, so these would be good things to sell and make profit from!

Now you won't just be selling these popular products to individuals, you could also get really lucky, and start selling those all in one printers you have to a huge company or business. Instead of selling one each to a customer for their home, you could potentially sell 10 to a large company that has a need for this particular all in one printer.

As with everything else online, it's all about targeting your audience and meeting their needs. For example, if you have a product that is designed for bluetooth, the people interested in things like electronics, laptops, computers, PDAs and cell phones would be most interested in that product. You wouldn't want to "sell" or pitch your bluetooth product to people only interested in pet products, its common sense! They will probably care less about your product, and this is not only loss of time, but loss of money as well.

Keep your niche audience strict. If your product involves travel, only pitch the product to people interested in travel, vacation, destinations, cruises, airfare, etc. Most of the niches have a large market available, there are always going to be sub-categories and variations on your nice, take advantage of this! Niche marketing is incredibly effective and cost effective when used correctly, it's a nice way to advertise or promote the product you have to people that want, need or desire that particular product!
