When you go to a trade show or convention as a possible customer, you are inundated with information about different companies. You go to the different booths and get free items from the people who are there representing their companies, hoping that you are going to place an order with their company.
Now, imagine that you are that person and everyone is giving you branded pens. Think about that. You visit twenty booths and you get twenty branded pens. You go home with your bag in hand and dump those branded pens out on the table. They all look the same – except for one. This one is different. It s a nicer pen, it s a more colourful pen, it s a novelty pen.
The point is that it stands out from the rest. Now, which company are you going to remember? All the companies that gave you the same pens that seem to blend into a big pile on your table, or the company that took a chance on you and gave you a pen that looks like it s going to last longer than a week?
This illustration with corporate pens is true for any promotional item that companies give out. People come to conventions and trade shows to get information about the different companies, but but by the end of the day they aren t going to remember the speeches that people give them. They aren t going to remember the presentations that they saw. All that they are going to take away with them are the promotional items that the representatives have given them.
There are a few things that you should remember when you are choosing branded pens so that your company stands out.
Keep it different
The first thing that you should remember is to choose items that are different. There are so many different types of branded pens that you can choose from so that your company is remembered.
Cheaper Isn t Always Better
A lot of companies choose cheap branded pens because they don t want to have to spend the money to get the branded pens of better quality. But when a company gives out pens that are of better quality, they find that they are being remembered more than the companies that gave out cheap pens.
Sometimes You Should Take Chances
The last thing that you should remember is that sometimes it s a good idea to take chances. People who play it safe by handing out regular branded pens don t always get the customers that they are looking for. But when someone takes a chance, they are going to find that they may be noticed.
Branded pens are something that companies find to be a good promotional item. But companies need to make sure that they are giving out branded pens that are going to make people remember them. Just like the pen in the story at the beginning of this article. The companies that are remembered are the ones that stand out above the rest, and sometimes that means that you should take a chance.
