With the rising cost of energy bills, I had to find a way to lower my utility bills and save some money. I found a great way to do this by building my own wind powered generator and harnessing this cheap, clean and abundant source of energy.
I was afraid that I would have to buy an expensive, commercial generator and spend thousands of dollars. I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to build my wind generator for less than $100.00 and it generates more than 1000 watts of electricity for my home.
I originally looked for a how-to guide online, and I did find some guides for free...bad idea!! It was no wonder the information was free, it was worthless! It didn't contain anything useful, and there were no instructions or explanations at all!
I finally found a guide for a wind generator that was extremely affordable and easy to understand. They included more than just the instructions for building the generator, they also had plans for constructing a tower to mount it on and all the electrical components involved with it. The guide told me where to get the parts locally and as cheap as possible!
I built my wind generator with my daughter with parts that we found in our area. I did have to order a DC motor at a cost of $15.00, but I could have found one at a junkyard for only a few dollars! Since it was my first time building one, and I'm not exactly what one would call 'technically or mechanically savvy', I decided that I would order it to make sure that it was the right one!
Now that my daughter and I have successfully constructed our first wind generator, we're in the process of building a second one.
I've already experienced a drastic decrease in my power bill with just one wind generator in use, so I can only imagine how much money I'm going to save with another one up and running soon!
Utility prices are not going to decrease anytime in the near future and power companies are making a lot of money on people like us who are just trying to keep our houses cool and the television on so we can watch our favorite shows.
I'm so glad that I took the initiative to build my own wind generator and create a free source of energy for my home! I know that if I can build one and it actually works, then anyone can do it!
